During the year 2005, the Alaskan base and its nuclear arsenal on Shadow Moses Island was captured by members of Foxhound. Demanding the remains of Big Boss within 24 hours, they threatened to launch a nuke if the demands were not met within that time. The government locates former Foxhound operative Solid Snake, and sends him towards Alaska shortly to confront the leader of the terrorist group "Liquid Snake".
