Both protagonists, Yuito Sumeragi and Kasane Randall, are playable. In addition to the “Brainpunk Action” elements of the game, in which the player characters can use psychokinesis, and work together with the various psionic abilities of their allies, the demo version also allows the player to enjoy all of the features of the early part of the game, including the immersive story told in dramatic cut-scenes, the development of relationships with allies, and the exploration of new locations.
■ What is SCARLET NEXUS?
In a far distant future, just as our civilization has been dramatically altered by the discovery of psychic abilities, deranged mutants known as Others have descended from the sky.
Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, these Others can only be defeated by those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics. For some years, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense.
They include Yuito Sumeragi, an enthusiastic volunteer hoping to repay the debt he feels for being rescued by the OSF as a child, and Kasane Randall, scouted for her remarkable abilities. Both capable of using psychokinesis, these two heroes of the OSF learn more about their own strengths and about the truth behind their world as they fight the Others.
Set in a future in which human brains and the technology used to enhance them have been developed to incredible extremes, SCARLET NEXUS is a “Brainpunk Action RPG” featuring a deeply immersive story in which the player controls one of two protagonists who fight using their own psychokinetic powers and the varied psionic abilities of their allies.
